Towards a More Inclusive Growth Model in Asia:
A Groundbreaking Research Collaboration With the Economics of
Mutuality Foundation and Other Global Partners

The Asia Foundation's Economics Program and the Korea Office, Economics of Mutuality Foundation, Hanyang University, and Erasmus University of Rotterdam launched a multi-year and multi-country research collaboration on inclusive growth models.

The research will center on the role of firms in inclusive economic and business growth in Asia. The value chains of multinational companies and small enterprises will be examined. In addition, the project analyzes its role in delivering long-term value to people, profit, and planet, along with its implications for business and policy leaders.

In this edition, we feature an interview with Dr. Kees Krul, who is leading this research project.

Women Entrepreneurs, from Trainers and Trainees to Peers

On the 24th of May, 2022, women entrepreneurs participating in Personal Initiative (PI) Training celebrated successful completion of the training with three PI coaches at an offline session. Developed by German researchers, the PI training is a proven approach to generating better business results compared to other best-in-class entrepreneurship trainings. The Asia Foundation introduced the PI training for the first time in Korea in 2020.

As the three PI coaches established the Personal Initiative Women Entrepreneur Association (PIWA), CEO Park Jiwoo, a PI Coach and Director of PIWA, introduced the Association to the participants during the session. Some participating women entrepreneurs became members of the Association, and they had their first meeting in June to discuss the management of the Association.
