Chinese Delegation Visits Korea to improve incubation support for Women Entrepreneurs

The Asia Foundation Korea Office hosted an exchange trip for a Chinese delegation to share Korea’s experience and practices on incubation support for women entrepreneurs from August 20 to 23, 2019. The Chinese delegation consisted of 6 participants from Women’s Federation in the Shapingba District of the City of Chongqing, Women’s Federation in the Dazu District of the City of Chongqing, The Administration of Westurn New Town, the City of Chongqing and Teaching and Research Office of Chongqing City Vocational College.


This program, comprised of consecutive field trips and workshop, was organized to facilitate operating effective and women friendly business incubators in Chongqing, China. Through visiting Root Impact, Dong-bu Women’s Development Center (Seoul Woman Up) and Sungshin Start-up Business Support Foundation, the participants had an opportunity to explore Korea’s co-working and business incubators, including those focused on supporting women entrepreneurs.


During the following workshop session, topics such as Korea’s policies on women entrepreneurship, and the role of Korean Women Entrepreneurs Association were introduced, followed by a session of beneficiaries who received support as women entrepreneurs. Finally, the Chongqing delegation presented their stories on operating incubators in China, and in return subsequently heard feedbacks from the Korean speakers.

The Chinese participants confessed this was an ‘eye-opening’ experience by learning Korea’s concrete and practical application of the start-up support policies for women entrepreneurs. Participants added that they will improve the sustainable start-up support policies and programs for women in China.
