The pandemic threatens to widen already serious gaps in women's participation in STEM(Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). The U.S., Japan and Korea have strong STEM fields, but women are still underrepresented, especially in leadership roles. Today in the U.S. only 28% of workers in STEM are women. In an increasingly digital world, girls' and women's under-representation in STEM must be addressed in order to build more inclusive economies. It is critical for women to have equal opportunities in STEM by utilizing transformative solutions that support programs in STEM education, coaching and innovation. We must invest in the next generation of girls and women by breaking down structural barriers and gender norms that discourage girls from pursing STEM careers and becoming leaders in their field.
