July 11, 2025 - The APEC 2025 Women in STEM Symposium, hosted as an official side event of the APEC SOM3 by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Foundation for Women in Science, Engineering and Technology (WISET), will take place on Wednesday, August 13, at Songdo Convensia in Incheon, Korea. The Asia Foundation will sponsor this event.

Under the theme "Empowering Women in AI for a Sustainable Future," the symposium will bring together global women leaders and experts at the forefront of the AI era to discuss fostering female talent in science and technology and strengthening women’s leadership for a sustainable future.

Prior to the symposium, an invitation-only policy dialogue titled “Building Inclusive AI for APEC” will take place. This session will convene representatives from domestic and international science and gender policy institutions, experts, and ambassadors to Korea from APEC member economies to explore ways to strengthen women’s capacity in STEM and advance cross-border collaboration. Dr. Kyungjin Song, Country Representative of The Asia Foundation Korea, will moderate this policy dialogue.
