Korean Development Professionals, Indonesia Study Visit for Sustainable Development of Middle-Income Countries

From June 30 to July 8, The Asia Foundation Korea hosted a study visit for Korean development specialists to Indonesia on the theme “International development cooperation for sustainable development of middle-income countries.” This activity was part of the Foundation’s ongoing program that aims to strengthen the capabilities of the Korean government, NGOs, international organizations, and research institutes in the field of international development. During these study visits, the Foundation encourages Korean development practitioners to understand the current development status of their partner countries and to expand collaboration with various local agencies while also strengthening their own capabilities. 
 
The Asia Foundation Supports and Participates in Advancing South-South Learning in Asia Conference

On July 4th, The Asia Foundation collaborated with the Asian Development Bank and Korea Development Institute to organize an international conference “Advancing South-South Learning in Asia.” The purpose of the conference was to discuss Asia’s vital role in improving links across the global south in trade, finance, and technology. The conference continues The Asia Foundation’s efforts to foster knowledge exchange on South-South cooperation and Asian approaches to development cooperation. 
 
KDI and The Asia Foundation co-hosted a workshop on "Contemporary Economic and Social Policy for Inclusive Growth"

KDI Center for International Development (CID) and The Asia Foundation co-hosted a two-day authors’ workshop on "Contemporary Economic and Social Policy for Inclusive Growth" in Seoul. This joint research project is aimed to capture Asian experiences in economic governance reform and advance the ongoing discourse with insights from Asia. 
 
Asia Foundation Co-Hosts Panel on the Korean Peninsula at World Peace Forum in Beijing
The seventh World Peace Forum was held in Beijing, China, July 14-15. The theme of this year’s WPF was "Constructing a Security Community: Equality, Equity, and Justice.”
For the third time, The Asia Foundation’s China office co-hosted a panel with Tsinghua University. Dr. Han Sung-Joo, Chairman of Friends of the Asia Foundation Korea, made a presentation at the joint panel on "Peace on the Korean Peninsula." 
 
A Roundtable Luncheon featuring Dr. Jin Park on Recent Developments on the Korean Peninsula and Prospects for U.S.-Korea Relations
On July 30, The Asia Foundation and the Institute of East Asian Studies, UC Berkeley organized a conversation on "Recent Developments on the Korean Peninsula and Prospects for U.S.-Korea Relations" in San Francisco with Dr. Jin Park, President of Korean-American Association and Asia Future Institute. 
 
The Asia Foundation participates in 2018 International Observation Program for Korea’s 7th Local Elections
Christopher Wyrod, deputy country representative for The Asia Foundation in Indonesia, joined more than 50 other international election professionals in the 2018 International Election Observation Program, sponsored by Korean National Election Committee (NEC), for Korea’s 7th nationwide simultaneous local elections.
