Edward Reed is now the acting representative of The Asia Foundation Korea.
Edward Reed was formerly The Asia Foundation’s country representative in Korea (2004-2011) and has returned to serve in the interim until a new representative comes on board. Dr. Reed brings more than 30 years of experience in international development, and he has worked and studied in Asia for more than 20 years. 
Indonesia and Philippines Delegation Visits Korea for Capacity Development

From May 13 to 19, 2018, Indonesia and Philippines delegations visited Korea for capacity development under the theme of Sustainable Development of Middle-income Countries: Korea’s Experience and Practices. This program for the 15 delegates from the two lower middle-income countries was designed to share Korea’s experience in accelerating economic growth and escaping the middle-income trap, and also to introduce policy strategies for sustainable development at the national and subnational levels. 

Asia Foundation’s Kathmandu Conference Examines Asian Approaches to Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding

Protracted conflicts in Asia have negatively impacted development and growth, nationally and regionally. Local conflicts, associated with land and natural resources, along with urban crime, are on the rise as Asian countries develop and urbanize. In response to the need to support peacebuilding efforts, The Asia Foundation, Korea Development Institute (KDI), and KDI School of Public Policy and Management hosted the 18th meeting of the Asian Approaches to Development Cooperation (AADC) dialogue series in Kathmandu, Nepal, May 9-10, to examine South-South development cooperation approaches to addressing conflict challenges in Asia. 
Asia Foundation Development Fellows Leadership Training in Seoul

The Asia Foundation Korea office conducted the 2018 Asia Foundation Development Fellows Leadership Training Program in Seoul from April 15 to 21. Under the theme Emerging Leadership for Asia’s Future, this one-week program focused on strategic thinking and decision-making, working with participants on developing critical perspectives, solving complicated problems, managing change, and introducing innovative approaches in leadership and management. Friends of The Asia Foundation (FOTAF) 2018 Annual Reception

On April 16 the Friends of The Asia Foundation (FOTAF) Board of Directors hosted its annual reception at the Plaza Hotel in Seoul. David Arnold, President of The Asia Foundation, and Han Sung-Joo, Chairman of The Friends of the Asia Foundation Board, gave welcoming remarks. Marc Knapper, Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the U.S. Embassy, offered congratulatory remarks. 
 
The Asia Foundation Korea is recruiting a Korean national as an Intern in our Seoul office. The deadline for submitting applications is June 11.
