Silicon Valley Business Forum Launched in Korea and California to Bring Breakthrough Innovations to the World’s Biggest Problems

September 17-19, 2020 - Leaders from Silicon Valley and Korea agreed to focus on technology innovation to solve some of the biggest problems facing the world today, including COVID-19, environment and urbanization. The agreement was reached upon the conclusion of the inaugural Silicon Valley Business Forum (SVBF), which closed on Sept 18, connecting the world’s most dynamic regions in Silicon Valley, Canada, Korea, and Asia. [Impact for Breakfast] The Asia Foundation Hosts an Inaugural Event of Impact for Breakfast Seoul

September 9, 2020 - The Asia Foundation and Artha Networks Inc. launched an inaugural event of Impact for Breakfast Seoul. The event gathered a local network of impact investors, commercial banks, family offices, international organizations, and the government, where they exchanged views on the landscape of sustainable finance in Korea. The Impact for Breakfast Club (IFB) is an informal network of family offices, foundations, funds, venture philanthropy and intermediary organizations with a shared interest in social enterprise, entrepreneurship and impact investing. IFB members seek to learn from one another and to collaborate more effectively to increase their individual and collective impact. Launched in London in 2008, IFB has become a global network of communities spanning 14 cities including Geneva, New York, and San Francisco. [Study Visit to Asia] Inaugural Blended Workshop Held for International Development Cooperation and Inclusive Economic Growth in Cambodia

September 2-5, 2020 - The Asia Foundation hosted an online-offline blended workshop at Daejeon, Korea from September 2 to 5, 2020 under the theme, “International Development Cooperation and Inclusive Economic Growth: MSMEs and Women’s Enterprises in Cambodia” in support of the KDI School of Public Policy and Management. Korean development practitioners from a governmental organization, NGOs, international organizations, and graduate schools participated in the workshop to have an in-depth experience that focused on the current challenges of MSMEs and Women’s Enterprises in Cambodia. Due to Covid-19, this year’s International Development Cooperation Capacity Building Program was conducted in a blended format, a combination of offline, face-to-face discussions among Korean participants, and joint online sessions for Cambodian participants.
