The Asia Foundation President Laurel Miller Visits Korea to Strengthen Partnerships and Gather Insights
July 23, 2024 - President & CEO of The Asia Foundation Laurel Miller visited Korea from July 15 to 19. This visit aimed to gather insights on the future direction and role of The Asia Foundation from prominent figures in the government, media, and academia. Dr. Kyungjin Song Appointed as the First Korean and Female Country Representative for The Asia Foundation's Korea Office
July 26, 2024 - The Asia Foundation announced the appointment of Dr. Kyungjin Song as a new Country Representative, Korea beginning on July 29, 2024. She is the first Korean and the first female and Country Representative for Korea in The Asia Foundation’s 70-year history. Dr. Song plans to strengthen the strategic partnership between The Asia Foundation and Korea in response to Korea's elevated national status and the international community's expectations of Korea. Over the past 70 years, The Asia Foundation has significantly contributed to establishing institution building, human resources development, and consolidating democracy in Korea through various projects since the Korean War. Dr. Song stated that she aims to "enhance strategic cooperation, expecting the leadership of Korea's public and private sectors for the prosperity and peace of Asia and the Pacific through development and expanded opportunities." ..

Launch of STEM ConnectHER Program for Women in STEM in Asia and the Pacific
January 30, 2024 - The Asia Foundation launched the STEM ConnectHER program to support the career development of young women in STEM fields in Asia and the Pacific in 2024. The program includes speaker series, mentoring, industry site visits, learning resources and other various activities. In Korea, the orientation for mentees was held on January 9, 2024, followed by the first speaker series on January 15. The speaker series, entitled "Dream Big, Fly High: Inspiring the Next Generation of STEM Leaders," featured two women experts from the Aerospace field: Ms. Ji-yeon (Julia) Park, Senior Manager at Pratt & Whitney, and Ms. Jung-beom (Judy) Moon, Connected Aviation Solutions at Collins Aerospace.
